Website for music

Hi guys,

I just stumbled across what seems to be a great website that uses AI to create royalty free music for your games.

Seems worth a try, what do you think?

Seems to suffer from a lot of obvious problems. The first big one is that the instrumentation itself sounds… awful. It’s very ā€œfirst time using a Casio so I’m just hammering on the keys.ā€ After that, it seems that each genre has a super limited range of basslines it’ll produce, same with drums. It’s nice they have a built in level mixer, but it’s not really meaningfully robust past that.

Also, adjusting the tempo completely annihilates the key the music is being played in.

I could see this as being useful for maybe some brainstorming sessions, maybe to draw an element from, but I wouldn’t put this in a game unless it was just for placeholder reasons or elevator music.

Yeah, I mean it’s not a full composition suite, but seems pretty decent from a gamejam POV at least. I was quite impressed but then I’ve only messed around with garage band once or twice.

I’m monitoring these offering, and none seems to have a method to analyse semantics of the music, they are all more or less fancy statistical accumulator or rules constraining algorithm, it’s always going to be limited. The best one have a vague mood tagging, but generally don’t analyse how mood is composed along the sequence. Basically they lack intentionality, because they see generation as random.

THis is one looks more like a mad lib though

Neat, but I prefer the more fine-tuneable controls of a sequencer application.

I’m going to check out that site now.

Way too boring for me. Music is by far the easiest and cheapest way to build the atmosphere of a game, as an indie you’re shooting yourself in the foot if you’re not searching out really great stuff.

I’ve been looking for an easy way to get decent quality sound for a long time now.

This is not it.

Tough audience.

Everyone’s AA graphics and sound engineers now!

Or, you know, just has a passing understanding of aesthetics.

It’s just too easy to buy good quality music from audio jungle.

Don’t you dare tell me about aesthetics! I haven’t fallen in love with the arrangement of simple geometric shapes since playing ā€˜Thomas was alone’ <3 <3

True but I want to make my own

Please, at least show my far superior and more recent work:
