Weird behavior for tracking planes with ARCore SDK after updating to 2019.4.40f1

Hi guys,
I hope you can help me because I don’t know what to look at anymore.

I have an AR project in Unity 2019.4.34f1 that works as expected.
After updating the project version to Unity 2019.4.40f1, the plane tracking has stopped working correctly: now it detects only at the lower limits of the device screen. Also, when I position the object, it stays static on screen. That is, if I move the device, the object stays anchored on the screen, it doesn’t stay in the real position where I put it.

I haven’t touched anything in any file, just open the project from Unity Hub with the new editor. Everything seems to be fine except for what I said.
Mostly of the code is from GoogleARCore.Examples.
Do you have any idea what it could be?

PS: it has to be with the ARCore SDK, not with the AR Foundation plugin for Android. My version is 1.7.0.

PS2: Sorry, I posted the same on General forum, thought I could change it later to this one, so it’s duplicated. My bad.

Note that Unity 2019 and Unity 2020 have reached end of life. The minimum supported version(s) of Unity and AR Foundation right now are Unity 2021.3 and AR Foundation 4.2. We strongly encourage you to upgrade if possible.

I’d offer you alternate advice if I had any, but I don’t know what might be the source of your issue.

Hi Andy, thanks for your reply.

It’s an old academic project for Android and I was developing the analogue for iOS (with AR Foundation). I just wanted to have both in the same version, but I see that is kind of impossible.

The solution will be upgrade and unify versions with AR Foundation, indeed.

Thanks again, have a nice day!

just curious that is there some reason to upgrade into 2019.4.40f1? (if it works in that earlier version)

Yes! The reason for updating to 2019.4.40f1 was to align the versions on both Android and iOS platforms.

I started developing the iOS version with ARFoundation on the latest version of Unity that supported ARCore, because there was not any plan to update to ARFoundation for Android version.
The Android version already existed and worked on 2019.1.f1, but the latest one where the plane tracking works correctly is 2019.4.34f1.
The purpose of making the iOS version was for a master’s thesis and updating the Android one was not into the scope of it, so I wanted to be aligned on both platforms at least.

I tried to update the ARCore version progressively but that didn’t help either. I also tried to run the example projects in the ARCore repository for several versions for versions higher than 1.7.0., but they didn’t work properly either, the same problem appeared.

I used a Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 and a Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite to test them, and it didn’t work on either.
