Welcome to the new Economy service forum. You can use this forum to ask for help, share feedback, and have discussions about Unity’s newest game economy solution.
Please note that Economy is currently available as a Beta product.
What does it mean that Economy is a Beta product?
While Economy is a fully functioning product that allows you to create the economy for your game, we are still working on future functionality, which means that some features are currently a work in progress and you may experience some issues. Please note that you will not be charged for the use of the product while in beta. We will provide information on the prices on the service page to help you understand the charges you might incur once the product will be released in GA.
There are a few things to be aware of when using this Unity Beta service package:
- Expect no SLA on the timeline to ship patches/fixes to releases, as we are still establishing our test and release cadence.
- Expect that this beta product will be moving towards a full release
- Expect us to answer questions from early adopters on the Forum, and we welcome all feedback and issues logged!
Beta Services are defined under the Operate Terms of Service, and that by using Unity Economy you agree that you have read and agree to the Operate Terms of Service.
Resources
To learn more about Economy, take a look at the Solutions page.
Economy is part of Unity’s offering for Game Backend, along with other Beta services like Cloud Code and Cloud Save, and generally available products like Remote Config.
FAQs are available on our website.
Economy documentation can be found on our new documentation site.
Requirements
- The Economy service is currently available in the Unity Dashboard.
- The package is being developed for users of Unity 2020.3 and beyond.
Getting started
Since this is a beta product, you need to sign up for the service in Unity Dashboard. Once you complete the signup process and agree to the Terms of Service, you will be able to access all Beta services.
Following the instructions after the signup process, you can find the Economy package in the Package Manager.
What’s next
The team is hard at work enhancing Economy. In the near future, Unity will expand the features available for the service, prioritizing them based on the feedback we will receive during the Beta phase.
Feedback
In terms of feedback, we’re especially looking for:
- Use cases that are important to you and your projects
- Workflows that are unclear or missing
- Features you’d like to see in future releases
- Questions or feedback on our documentation and educational content
- Reflections on what has been challenging for you when it comes to implementing your game using these new Unity services.
Please share your feedback as new posts in this forum.
How to report bugs with Economy
Ideally, we’d like any bugs reported through the Support link in the service “About & Support” page for your project in the Unity dashboard.
There is also a bug reporter tool, but it’s not the preferred way to reach out to us. For instructions on how to file bugs through the Unity editor, please go here.
Once you have submitted a bug report, please feel free to start a new post on it here in this forum.
