What are good places to recuit?

Hey Everyone,

Just starting this topic to collect some awesome places to find talented people, in all fields of game development. If you have a good link, please post it!

Thanks.

But to be clearer, it is not just fishing at the best fishing hole, but having the right fishing equipment too. Don’t be expecting to catch too many good fish if you show up with just a comfy chair and a full beer cooler. Whilst the experience of it might be fun, fish won’t jump in your lap saying “give me some beer.” And if they do, you have had too much beer.

Not in the curent state of the unity colaboration section.

I dont realy colaborate much but if i did i would not post it hear, i would proboly just contact other people i know or would like to colaborate with.

I think you could get some quality people through the Unity collaboration forum, but it would take work, much like anything worth doing well. I think the main problem is that most people come to the collaboration section and expect it to be a free ride to stardom and having their ideas implemented for free with no work on their part.

I agree on approaching the people directly, but that would require a certain effort too as if some random Joe Schmoe approached me and asked for free work, I’d just delete the message without thinking twice. Perhaps that is just me but I would guess a large percentage of people are like that. If Hippocoder came along and asked for something, and it wasn’t too onerous, I’d certainly help out with a few hours work. It’s all about contribution to the community as a whole.

And yes, the collaboration section can get a little boisterous at times, and yes, both you and I are guilty of that. I think it is the rough and tumble reaction to most people not wanting to make any effort but still seeking something for nothing.

That is my entertainment on a boring day

I wake up to read the collaboration section:)

Also, I don’t think that your first game should be so big that you require slaves* to do it for you**

*Thats what you call them right?
**I don’t know what you are working on but I’m going to guess it’s the next Zombie MMORPG and you get to play as a plumber:)

Fresh Hot morning coffee!, Unity forums… The wifes got the newspaper… works for me!

I’m guessing Mario will need some spiked boots for his next adventure then.

Just be careful whom you recruit from in this forum, persuming that a badly-marketed-advertisement decision of the unity company that has attracted some good potentials but mostly egoistic, arrogant pigs, has one or two nonsensical threads pop up every now and then. Have a clear form of communication and set your rules and expectations straight. It’s alright if people lack the time to contribute their part of the project due to real life problems, but if someone tries to be a freeloading smartarse, then it’s time you should bump your old recruitment thread again.

That being said, I eat dumb trolling threads like them for breakfast.

I’ve actually been on these forums for 2 years. I’ve posted in the collab section many times, I was just wondering what other options there might be… not to discuss the collaboration section.

There are other options, but why should we do the work for you?

Perhaps a post on the collaboration forum asking for help in locating places to recruit would be the next step?

20 GOTO first_post

I wouldn’t post this in the collaboration section, because I am not collaborating. I’m not asking you to go do research for me, I’m simply trying to find a place to advertise for collaboration, besides the Unity forums.
