What are the best practices for making a particle system that works on mobile/iOS?

I have been asked to make a couple particle systems in shuriken that would “work on mobile.” I haven’t ever experimented with making one for a mobile device aside from using a mobile shader. What would be some of the things I should look out for?

This is not a very clear answer but it’s how I’m starting to figure out particles for mobile.

I ended up buying the Cartoon FX particle packages by JMO on the Unity Asset Store and with it there are both mobile and non-mobile versions of the same particles, including separate textures and shaders. You should be able to learn everything you need to know by comparing the two and testing them each on the same device.
