What are the best ways to speed up particles?


Im making a 2D game which is mostly physics and graphics. I’ve finished physics but with particles I get bad lag. The game im making allows you to clone a cube that emits 100 particles per sec. On my phone I can spawn about 10 clones before I notice lag. I also disabled trails but that didn’t help improve anything. If theres any way to make it run faster without taking your attention away from the particles ill gladly accept it. Any ideas?

I had an idea, if i switch out of 2D view i can see the particles emitting in 3D which could be causing it I believe. Also this may be where some of the particles are getting hidden so ~/100 are showing. Such as particles behind the sprite.
