What can happen in two weeks...

So my team found itself with some time to kill between projects and we thought we’d see what we could do in two weeks.

This is a link to the post-mortem and the final game:

We’re considering porting the project to the iPhone, so any and all feedback would be much appreciated!

UPDATE**

We’ve taken all this feedback to heart (well, most of it anyway) and have put together a re-release for the Unity contest on Kongregate! You can see us there at this link: Play QBCube, a free online game on Kongregate

Let us know what you think!

Wow! Amazing website!

Thanks! Though I’d like to know what you think of the game…

Ha, this is awesome! I love it!

I would love to play this on my ipod.

Also, how did you get that glowy text on your website?

Love the title! The game was really good, super simple but fun. I especially loved the aesthetic, nice and oldschool; reminded me of marble madness.

I think that would definitely be a good candidate for iPhonization.

That game is excellent! I could see this being one of those puzzle games you just can’t stop playing. I would say put this on the iPhone/iPad if you already have the licence for it. If not I might hold off since no one knows for sure yet if Apple is gonna reject all Unity apps since it doesn’t conform to their new iOS4 rules or whatever. Now excuse me… I have some QBQUBE to play

The glowy effect is achieved using text-shadows… Surprisingly, it’s not very widely known!

Thanks for the positive feedback, everyone!

Also, if you encounter any bugs in the game, please let us know…

(in case you were wondering, i worked on this project as well)

Clicked everywhere in the game and could not get it to start. OS X 10.5.5 and Safari. Very nice outline of the procedures you folks went through.

It might appear to be super simple but it’s not all that easy, at least for me.
Doable, but not easy.
Fun!

Ah, just noticed the little hinting animation,
does make it much easier.

Really a very good and quite hard game. I would be interested to see how you sorted a control system for the iPhone, but yah I would buy it.

I dont know if this is a bug or feature, but if the cube is nearby the boundary and one rotates the level around holding space the level restarts if the cube is above the boundary, even if space is not yet released.
In my opinion the check for hitting the boundary should only take place when space is not pressed, so you can look around even in positions where you would die if you release space.

Otherwise nice game.

Very cool! I really liked it. Only played a few levels, but I could see it doing well on the iphone.

Yeah, great game! Like Bluster T Hogwash, I tried clicking all over to start. Finally tried WASD, got a reaction, and figured out how to play. You could pop up instructions if the user clicks anywhere.

I definitely think it would be a good iPhone game.

The trick for you developers is to make enough levels that are challenging and interesting. Because once you know how to finish a level, there is no challenge (or interest).

Fun music, too!

Hey all, thanks for all your comments -

Definately not a feature - actually thought I’d dealt with that already…:? Will have that sorted shortly. Thanks!

Thanks - to help us debug, could you let us know if it works fine at this link?

(it’s a direct link to the game instead of going through the shadowbox)

Thanks to everyone who’s left feedback so far!

Edit:

…and please try this, too

Good idea!

nice catch, BIG BUG.
Thanks to you, it’s been fixed.

Really Cool!! Idk if this is a bug or not, but if you pass over the “win square” I triggered a win even thou I didn’t land on it.

Otherwise,

Awesome!

-Mike

Thanks - I’ll have to look into that…

Great article, great game and concept.
Excellent as an educational game for learning spatial visualisation skills too, I think, where you could ramp up the difficulty in various ways.

this is really cool, great idea. Hope you guys can take this somewhere… the casual market should eat this up.

Have fun, and great work.

Niiice!
