What controls the distance at which certain materials get rendered?

Hello everyone, I was messing about with the preview packages default scene. Both the Lightweight render pipeline and the HDRP have the same weird issue where the material’s color defaults to black when you move away from the object. Does anyone know what is causing this?

You could also check the LOD (Level of detail). Its not answering your question really but it might be interesting information. Unity - Manual: Level of Detail (LOD) for meshes
