What do I need to simply test a Unity project on Android tablet

Trying to simply test a project on my nexus 7 android tablet.

I have Unity 3.5 installed on Mac OSX.
I have Android SDK installed.
I have pushed a test app from Eclipse to my Android Nexus 7 and it works fine – I know what I’m doing and I’m not a complete dumbass

I tried doing a build from Unity 3.5 and I would quickly see the splash icon I chose for the app (so it sort of works), but then the screen flashes black and it goes back to the Android OS. I guess it’s crashing? Or…?

Do I actually need the “Android Authoring License” (a $400 purchase) to test for Unity on my Android? Or is that only if I want to publish it on the Google Play Store? Or is

What exactly is the license for $400? Is it just a unique key number? Or is it code?? Is this why the app isn’t working to test it?
I’m assuming simply upgrading to Unity 4 will not necessarily change anything or make things magically flawless.

Any help appreciated.

This is a 2nd question, but hey if anyone knows.
I have a Mac Pro computer. I have an old iphone – like 1st generation. Can I still test on that with Unity projects?

You’ll need the add-on license to publish to the relevant devices.

That old iPhone won’t be much good anymore, unfortunately. The minimum device I have with decent enough performance is an iPod touch 4. Around that age and newer will be usable for iOS (OpenGL ES 2.0 devices, basically).
