What else can be done with unity?

So it’s for games only? Game development is not really important to me. I’m thinking about realistic visualizations / presentations and interactive user interfaces. Is unity suited for this? How does it compare to Esperient and Quest3d?

Its definitely suited for it.
There are various examples of Unity used for such things up to 3D projector based visualizations and other things.

How it compares is likely something that can only be realistically decided by implementing the same prototype in all of the 3, as it depends on personal preferences and project specific requirements if one of them is better or less suited I think

Unity is definitely not limited to games only. Sure, we position it as a game development tool but there is no reason to work within that box. Game developers are extremely demanding in terms of visual fidelity, performance, levels of interactivity and background functionality. It’s up to you to sort out where you take all of that, whether that’s for games, training/simulations, data visualization or whatever.

Like Higgy says, anything is possible.
I have already used it for Oil well drill demo’s that included drill times, horizontal shifts, failure scenarios, the works. It is no different than buying Visual Studio and starting on a new program, will it be web, will it be windows, will it be a libray or a web service, all up to you. You use the tool as you see fit.

i worked on a view projects done by an austrian artist.
She uses unity for interactive art-installations (big projections mostly) - so unity is totally flexible…

and in no way it’s that unaccessable like Quest3D - thats the reason we picked unity - and of course the pricing/licensing scheme
