what game should I buy

I want to buy a game. Maybe more than one, since I am going to have some free time around the holidays and I also have a new computer.
So what should I get?
I like fps multiplayer games like COD. I didn’t buy MW2 because it lacks dedicated servers. I am reading some bad reviews for Black Ops. I was disappointed by WaW. The only game that I currently play is MW1.
What is a good game these days?
I am mostly interested in fps multiplayer games, but feel free to suggest any other good games so that more people can benefit from this thread.
thanks

Okay I dont like FPS games so it wont be for you but anyway.

I really enjoyed Mafia 2, everything about it (and I usually dont like sandbox type games) everything from the era to the story is just excellent. You have every type of game conceivable, everything from driving around the city, to stop and pop shooting to a melee combat system and not to mention some sneaking missions.

I am also pretty amped for the upcoming Rocktstar game LA Noir, I mean when was the last time we had an actual film noir game (other than max payne). Set in the same time period 1940’s

The new Call of Duty

Alright sir. I will pick up a copy of Black Ops after work. Thank you.

Battlefield Bad Company 2

thank you sir. I have this one. I played it for a couple of hours and never again. I will give it another try.

Borderlands. One of my Top 5 All Time…

There should be a thread for that: everyone’s Top 5 All Time Favorite Games. That will get you thinking…

I got COD Black Ops. Overall, disappointing. The series have steadily regressed from MW1 > WaW > MW2 > Black Ops.
Black Ops does have dedicated servers (MW2 doesn’t) but even with the dedicated servers the max number of players is 24. WTF? (I didn’t even see any servers with 24 players, only with 18). Most maps I played feel too big for so few players. Guns feel imbalanced. Short range, mid range, long range, you are better off with an automatic weapon, it seems.
It is still not a bad game, but it certainly does not meet the expectations I had for it.

Borderlands shows that it is not necessary to have detailed models or hi-res textures to make a successful mainstream game.
What really counts is the gameplay.
