What game women prefer?

We know about men well.

But how about women?

What sort of or what game women like to play? prefer?

Any infos or stats, opinion?

COOKING MAMA. lol, I think? Uhm, Nintendogs…

The Sims!

(Disclaimer: I know almost no female gamers and therefore my sample may be absolute crap)

world of warcraft, puzzles on big fish, quake 3 arena, street fighter 2, mario (2d), mystery case files stuff

Those are fave games of women I know. Quite a large amount also played barnyard bounce, which is my game- (was smart enough to run the game by them first to tweak the appeal).

If you are interested in female gamers to tweak your game, simply don’t waste their time and listen to their feedback. Women are not mystical unicorns but they do like ‘interesting’ games not space stuff.

In my experience, their taste in video games is just as diverse as men’s, there’s just fewer of them. The girl gamers i’ve known played everything from tetris and zynga games to WoW and Halo.

Check out Big fish games. Things like time managment (think farmville), hidden object match3 etc. Probably less hardcore but you will have some overlap so its hard to say really

oh and mass effect 1/2 - i know plenty of women who love mass effect.

Every game men enjoy.

Hmm, Just had a brain storm, I dont think its what games woman like, I think its the accessability, Take the DS for example, The audience is towards Woman and children, I think the game doesnt matter, Its the art style and the console.

I also know a few women that enjoy the sims.

Actually, I got my wife and her friend hooked on Fruit Ninja simply by playing it in the same room with them. Women apparently LOVE cutting up fruit.

I think a lot of people believe women only like casual games, or at least that’s how most casual games seem to target things.

That is just social. They enjoyed it because they were together, the actual game was unimportant. Had she been alone, ask yourself - would she bother with fruit ninja? I know an older australian woman who absolutely loves jap RPGs which she does play by herself, but that is compelling and story based. I honestly doubt fruit ninja introduced to someone in a social situation meant they actually would play it solo or if they came across it by themselves.

I’d have to agree with hippocoder.

It’s been my experience that for the average woman it’s the social aspect of games that they enjoy, not the game itself. For example, I noticed them posting FamilyFeud requests to their facebook wall even though they knew the answers, just to draw their friends into the experience.

Girls: Let’s farm together!
Guys: Let’s log in and blow each other’s head off with a shotgun!

I think that’s very accurate for the general population. My girlfriend and I prefer extremely chaotic and generally violent co-op’ing (Resident Evil 5 has been our favorite for the past couple of years), so I guess that’s sort of a halfway point between your extremes? Neither one of us identifies with either gender much.

Hunger/Gatherer. If man is a hunter, then woman is a gatherer.

True enough, but the differentiation really comes down to cooperation vs competition. I think that was discussed somewhat by us previously in some thread in regards to your dislike for L4D. So perhaps I’ll rephrase.

Girl: Oh no, Sally’s farm is drying out. Poor girl, let me send her some water. :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:
Guy: Mike’s head just got blown off with a shotgun! OWNED, biatch will never beat me.

Both the guy and the girl will post such an event to their facebook wall. The girl, to have a social interaction with their friends. The guy, just to get different heads to blow off with the shotgun, hoping for some increased competition.

umm you know, and I’m just spit-balling here but we could ask a actually girl (Sound effect).

But really guys (well assuming your all guys, so sorry to any girls above) I have HUGE doubts any of us know lol.

I do know because I slept with one of them for 10 years, so yes I do know. And believe it or not many of us are in relationships and/or have female friends (it is ok to be just friends too!)
