What Games ⭐ do you Need to Develop in 2025?

Recently, I have participated in Crazy Web Games Jam 2024 sponsored by Unity and Unity developed a special course for it on Unity Learn — thx for that: I’m looking forward to the second part.

This game development marathon offered an opportunity to create and showcase your game from November 1 to November 8 from Scratch based on a selected theme: “Everything is a Remix”.

7 Key Game Trends

I collected 7 Key Requirements of Trending Game Directions for Developers:

  1. This Theme tells us that people need New Game Mechanics based on several existing ones.

  2. WebGL is a new Rap. Web Games for Desktop and Mobile platforms requires weak computers, load quickly, do not require installation, they are being tested quickly.
    .
The limitations of browser games have become their advantages.

  3. Maximum Game Size must be 250MB. Fast Load Times: Web-based games need to load quickly to retain players. Optimize your game’s performance to ensure fast load times, particularly in browsers.

  4. Games should be designed for a diverse audience and must comply with PEGI 12 rating. The maximum adult content you can make in these games looks like this:
    .
“Video games that show violence of a slightly more graphic nature towards fantasy characters or non-realistic violence towards human-like characters would fall in this age category. Sexual innuendo or sexual posturing can be present, while any bad language in this category must be mild.”

  5. Replayability: Games with replay value, such as leaderboards, unlockable content, or endless levels, tend to perform better by encouraging players to come back for more.
    .
Games that keep players coming back for more are the most successful. Focus on fun gameplay mechanics, clear progression, and a rewarding experience to maintain a high session rate.

  6. Simple and Intuitive Controls: Games with straightforward and easy-to-learn controls are more likely to succeed. Avoid complexity that could frustrate players early on.

  7. Complies with all legal and ethical standards.
