I’m reading a book called “Unity Game Development Essentials”. When the author shows how to create a new project, he checks “Standard Assets.unityPackage” in the project creation window.
What happened to this package? I only see “Standard Assets (Mobile).unityPackage”. The book seems to be written with an older version in mind, which is kinda frustrating because I just bought it from Amazon.
All versions of Unity prior to 3.x had a Standard Assets package / folder. With Unity 3.x that has been changed to a number of smaller packages. I use Pro so I’m not sure what comes with the free version.
Yeah, the change in 3.x has made things a bit confusing, but I would recommend you import all those packages to start. Then later once you know what you’re doing, you can pick and choose only the packages you need.
i must be doing something wrong, when i installed unity5, i click on everything, including standard assets, but when i started the new project, the assets windows showed no files, so i had to manually install them, they were on the unity folder at program files, my question is: shouldn’t this standard assets be applied from the first install? what if i didn’t get the idea of checking for the assets in program files? I don’t have a problem, i just wanted to know if any1 know the reason.
please no smart axes people saying - well you google it!! what if the person don’t know how to google. ( yes, to find something specific in google, something you have to have some kind of knowledge of how to look for things)
I know this because, i have to deal with people who can’t find shit over the web, then i ask them for what they are looking for and i find it quick.
I found the reason why they can’t find shit on the web after asking of them how they did the search.
(A TOOL IS A REAL TOOL ONLY WHEN IT SELF-EXPLAINS) if it doesn’t then is only a tool for professionals and if UNITY IDEALS is to make more people Join the Challenge then this is an ERROR.
