What i really need for Create a Game?

Hi im iManu

Im fresh here and new new with games development.
But it was my dream that i see now possible with Unity3D. (if im right with the possibility)
Sorry for my englih now, i dont speak it good yet.

I tryed to get a good answer on the internet, searched here too but nowhere,
i really felt my question not to be answered, so i try here.

Im asking me what i really need for create a game,
i know that producing is komplex, so supposedly i want create a game alone.

I would need to learn a computer language like csharp right?,
i would need to learn how create an object (supposedly this is in the main workspace on Unity Prog.?),
and with what or where i learn ingame smoke actions, explosion, are they already on the language?
or for effects, are effects already possible to create in Unity3D?
You see i really dont have a clear image of what someone need to know (learn) to get
a fully controll in a game developnig?

I really appreciate an answer that gives me clearly an image where i have to stay, use, learn…
Thx very much for taking time.

kind regards immanuel

Hi,

Welcome to the Unity Community
Just get stuck in and start learning, and start making simple games.

Unity has a great new site Learn
Check it out

This guy is a Troll! Why?

Read what he has written, analyze it, and you’ll see the intentional mistakes made. I’m 99% certain that this guy is a drip off a dead rats ass!

Troll Too obvious.
One does not simply make mistakes like: “englih”, “komplex”, “developnig”. If you know these words, you know how are written.

Also, these questions are just… >:(
“I would need to learn a computer language like csharp right?”

  • A game engine usually includes a language framework, Unity uses C#. He obviously said ‘csharp’ because he knew :stuck_out_tongue:
“I tryed to get a good answer on the internet, searched here too but nowhere,”
  • Really? Google is full of answers!
  • *Looked up on Google 'What do I need to create a game"
  • Results: “5 things you need (and don’t need) to make a game”, “What do you need to make a game?”,
  • “What do I need to build a game?” >> This is from the UnityForum (Here)…

Holy-moly, with your level of english you won’t be able to understand the documentation.

Unfortunately the obvious “me wants create MMORPG” is missing :frowning:

Guys, chill your ego’s and stop being so judgemental. He/she could be authentic for all you know.

Doesn’t sound like a troll to me.

Besides the grammar mistakes, that post is not really provoking. Just some simple questions.

A troll tries to trigger a pointless discussion/flamewar. Like someone mentioned earlier, the obvious ‘me wantz to maik a MMO’ is missing.

Just give this guy a chance before jumping on him.

Sory me english no good too.
Please be good to me.
Me too wants to make dream games. I search many many sites for answers and no answers I see. But i see many many games.

Can i make this game here?
What need?
Can you lesson me with Skype?

I really want to makes games after I playied World of Warcraft my best game.
I see it very easy tomake games.

Please help me.

Troll or not thx very much to @Meltdown
i will surely beginn with that but i want take some courses maybe.

i told already, i not living in a english country, so i need only time to get it better again.

Over 10 years i began modelling something little in 3dsmax, and i created own textures for a Mod in Battlefield (the first game PC), but i was in that time too young, so i finished with that and i was forced to learn another profession, 4 years long.
Now after 10 years i feel really motivation for learning that (create game, app) fully, especially after i saw unity3d.com.
The biggest difference now, is about learn something that u Have to learn or learn something becouse you want it and your really motivated.
The only thing is, i want do some courses maybe, to get the right deep understand in create a game (example) C# a language for all systems, but can i produce everything with C# except object?

Thx very much for taking time.

kind regards immanuel

Me no troll too.
Sorry no good english.

Welcome to the forums! Have fun with Unity!

And don’t get discouraged. Some people here are just a bit thin skinned

The creator from Project Ion started too learn about development in late 2011. Not long after he launched a running demo and did a lot of updates since then already with a very neat upcoming update to come within a few weeks again.

No money spend, only time, lots of time.

Thx, i realized that too

Wow that sounds good, “no money, only time” u mean i could learn it only with internet guides?
is there something to know (learn) deep for getting a good handle with create a game?
can u tell me what is essential to learn (know) for create a game? like i mentioned on top.

need:

  1. C# (language)
  2. modelling (unity workplace?)
  3. and more?

(im trying to find a teacher here where i live, for this question…)

Thx very much for taking time.

kind regards immanuel

Unity is a good place to learn. Here you can learn a lot.

All ways lead to Rome. The same counts for game development.
As far I know the creator from Project Ion started with Blender (used for model making).

After that he started to work with Unity creating a landscape. But you not have to follow a certain development road to create a game single-handed. Sometimes it is about working together or using someones skill to learn more or different aspects of game development.

The best from (John) the creator from Project Ion is that he is very dedicated and eager in learning and just not giving up on it plus the effort in time. Spending 8 to 10 hours a day on his project 7 days a week in the last year alone.

Hope you find the eagerness to learn a lot and become a great game developer.

What kind of game do you want to develop,iManu? AAA title like battlefield, crysis, gears of war,god of war? or simple 2D game like “cut the rope” “temple run” “angry bird” etc?

Ok, yes i see, i will surely take a similar way! This helped me now really, thx.

I will beginn with 2D or maybe with a little 3D game like you written “cut the rope” “temple run” “angry bird” etc.
surely i’m not dreaming like a fool, and think to make a new GTA6

I phoned a teacher here, he told me:
For make an animation you dont need a language i could start now with it, but
if i want to make an App or a Game where i can move an object (exmpl: walk left, right)
or open a window and close it, i would need learn a computer language like java or c#.
It is right?

Thx very much for taking time.

kind regards immanuel

immanuel, you don’t need java. If you have previous javascript experience, then look no further.study javascript really hard. if you do not have javascript or c# experience,no problem pick one and study. I would pick c#,if I were you. Anyway, basically language does not matter[we write printf in c,in c++ we write cout and such. Its just syntax and some other minor things]. What you need to know, is code writing techniques. You need to learn OOP(object oriented programing),may be MVC(model view controller). They are not language, they are techniques. Suppose, you eat. what you eat is language. The verb “eat” is technique, I am kinda fatty, thats why I gave eating example :p.

You will apply the technique in a language.Unity3d NORMALLY supports 3 language.javascript,c#,boo. I might need to clear.do not mind if you already know, java not equal to javascript.

For animation, you can just start over. To move an object, first learn some language and technique. Then heads up to google for “character controller tutorials”. You will find what you seek.

You told that you have some experience with 3dmax. Refine it. learn some hard surface modeling, uving, some photoshop technique. For pure 2d,I don’t think you need any of modeling stuffs so.You do it with sprite. I haven’t done anything with pure 2D,so I can’t tell you about it. All I tell you about 3D stuffs. There is a tutorial on VTC I heard, about unity3d. It might help you.

Game developing is a long road. Have some very good amount of hope,it will entertain you and teach you,a lot.

Finally it is not a sin to hope for GTA5. Anything is possible if you truly try. However start from a small thing, then go bigger. But do not loose hope. It is what everybody linger on.
