what IOS license gives?

Hi guys.
I’ve been working with Unity for the web, I don’t have any experience with IOS device. Now my client want to know if I can do it with a demo that actually running on an iPad. I’m an PC user so I sent a friend my project folder and he used his Mac and built it into a xcode project.
So my question is, if Unity license alone on the Mac can built app for IOS, then what actually IOS license does? do I misunderstand something? If I get the job I’ll be willing to get the license but I want to know if I need it?

A Unity license alone doesn’t build an app for iOS, you need to have a key which enables it.

It can’t.

It allows you to build for iOS.

so that was me understand it wrong? he must has iOS license right? thanks you guys

If he builds for iOS, then he has it.

To be clear, you need a Mac, and Unity + Unity iOS + Xcode to be able to publish the files from Unity to an Xcode project that can then be loaded in Xcode and deployed onto an iOS device.

You cant do it on your Windows machine.

You will also need an iOS developer account so you can access XCode (unless you buy it) and so you can provision your iOS devices for use as development devices.

which costs another 99USD yearly (appl store publish access from apple)

(ooh i start to hate Apple with the closed stuff, why not liberal approach (doesn’t matter if windows or mac is used to publish), they still gain with app store sales)

@Seon: thank you, your information is very clear, I’ve just sent Apple 99$ today, it will takes a few days, I’m so excited.

@saymoo: I saw the 500000 devs announcement on Unity3d homepage, lets assume half or 1/3 of them are going for iOS, that’s a lot of Mac computers to sell I think.
