What is considered an upgrade?

Hello,

I am considering getting Unity Pro however that sentence is not too clear to me :

"If upgrading an existing Unity license, please enter your serial number in the text field below. The pricing and options will be updated based on the existing license. "

What is considering upgrading and actually a paying upgrade?

1) Moving for example from version 3.3 to 3.4? 2) Moving to Unity 4.0 when it is released? 3) Or just taking add-ons such as Unity iOS Pro?

Upgrading from a previous version of unity, like Unity 2.6 I guess. I think it's every major update (1.x, 2.x, 3.x, (future)4.x)
