What is it with apes

What is apk (android application package) how does it work whats the role in install and download and other bla
IS this is what i should do=
1-make the game using unity
2-Hit build and run
3-then choose android sdk folder
4-test it on mobile
5-then publish to google play
6-apk s***(???)
