I’m sorry to say this, but currently Unity 5.x seems not stable yet. I have currently 2 chief problems on our project.
I once tried to build an IL2CPP version with 5.0.1f1 but it failed to pass the Xcode building stage. I didn’t try for newer versions.
Currently the Mono build won’t run on iOS 7.x, crashing on some batching related bad access error.
Newer version than 5.0.1f1 have something wrong with WWW, indicated by the fact that the build crashes on iOS due to a web stream decompression error.
So I got to ask which version of Unity 5 is the most stable and how many pending issues are there to fix? I think our game must finally use IL2CPP when we deliver it, so especially how is IL2CPP working now?
We hear ya… Graham…, we have also been using different versions of Unity 5.x.x.x and would also like to know if possible, which version is the MOST bug free, or lets say which version has the LEAST amount of bugs reported…
…maybe we could get a webpage just for this… or some thing sorta like…
example:
Unity 5.1.2 bugs reported = 124 with 2 patches
Unity 5.0.1 bugs reported = 12 with 0 patches
etc…
Just a thought…maybe not a good thought…but…just…
If nothing more… just for entertainment purposes only.
Sorry to say that, but it sounds rather useless to me. If a new bug is submitted e.g. in 5.1.2., they would need to check it in every version before that to give those numbers some kind of meaning or value. This would simply be a huge waste of time.
The newest version should always be seen as the most stable one. If you run into issues either submit a bug report or vote for a previously submitted one in the issue tracker.
