What laptop?

I’m currently developing on a 2011 MacMini and it works fine enough, but I can’t debug with Unity/Mono-develop as it keeps crashing, so I gave up on using a debugger, luckily I’ve managed with just the console.

So I was thinking of getting a decent windows laptop, which hopefully would mean I could debug on. However recently I’ve started to get more into iOS development, especially iOS games developed with Unity, so I’ve gone back to the idea of getting an Apple machine, maybe a Mac Book pro retina. If I do that however I’m bothered that I still won’t be able to use the debugger (not sure how it would work with mobile development anyway?).

So, any ideas on what’s the best way to go? bare in mind I won’t be getting anything for at least another 3 months.

Ideally I’ll have a laptop that I can debug on, that I can develop Unity games on, and I can also do iOS development on, I think screen size is important, but I’ve read conflicting reports on whether you can happily code/design (I also do graphics) on a 13 inch screen. Size of the laptop isn’t really an issue, I’ll be travelling with it sometimes, but mostly it will stay in one or 2 locations.

I’m wondering if I need 2 laptops (PC/Mac) but I really don’t want to do that unless I have too, also I read that you can have windows on Macbook? but I can see running Unity on Windows on a Macbook, developing for iOS as all kinds of messy

A MacBook Pro Retina is of course amazing… and can run Windows under Bootcamp. (This just makes the Mac boot into Windows.) Get that all sorted, and see how it goes. If you don’t like it, then consider getting a second PC laptop.
