What software to use for pixel art?

Hi , I am creating a Unity 2D game and would like to mimic the art style of Kingdom : New Lands. What software should I use to create and animate pixel art? Could I use Aseprite?

Thank you.

Photoshop is pretty good. Use anything you want. It’s really not the tool that’s the issue here. If you can use it, and it imports fine, use it.

Thanks, I’ve decided to use something similar to Photoshop. I am using Krita for pixel art. I am using this to make a 2D point and click adventure game. I’m unsure as to how to create 2D game environments in terms of layers. I don’t know if the layers for interactable objects needs to be separate from the environment. How would I make a 2D game object interactive that is part of the environment? (It needs to be a separate layers ???)

Thank you.

Personally I use Aseprite for pixel art. They have a lot of very useful tools for making sprites without the bloat of photoshop-style programs.
