Hi all,
Today I’ve downloaded some asset from asset store and that’s where problems started. First of all, I was unable to locate downloaded content in a simple way. May be there are persons, who do not care what and in what place is stored on their hard drive, but I am not one of them. I never allow some shitware to make hidden downloads to unknown locations - that is what made me furious.
After some research, I’ve found out that assert store content (even free content) is stored in “Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Unity\Asset Store\PUBLISHERNAME”. So, if I, for example, download 4 assets from 4 different publishers, I will have 4 different folders - one for every publisher (!!!). One folder for every fu&en publisher - are you going crazy?!
Why there is no way at least to choose where those files will be downloaded?! I know, MAC users never care about what shit different software store on their computer, but Unity is not only for MAC users, is it?
At any case, is there any way to non-harmfully (for my projects) remove those folders and files from computer and never look again toward asset store?
Yours truly,
etc. etc.
You have valid concerns, And yes i agree it would have been nice if unity had made it known where the assets from the store are stored.
If it wasn’t for another poster i might still be searching.
One thing i would add in the “Unity Menu → Assets → Inport Package → Custom Package” that it would also have pointed me in some way, So i would not have to drill recursively down through the directory’s to find them.
Users\USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Unity\Asset Store\
The Asset Store browser is only a recent addition and understand they have lot on the plate with up coming unity releases.
