What would be your dream game project?

There have been few threads about what game that has already been developed that you would like to be part of, but i am wondering what would rather your dream game project that you would like to develop? Also imagine that money is not problem and that you have some great ammount that you can put into development.

For me personally it would be lord of the rings game, something with deep story, RPG elements, basically game that would 100% portayal movie(s) and it would be cooperative to play. Something that would probably take over 10 years to develop with indie team. Ah i can already see how amazing game would be if it would even portay the scenes from movie,
if i would have 10 milion dollars right now, i know where they would go.

What would be your choice?

Id love to do anything with a story. All I really do at work is those little ios games.

Anything that I could be proud of I would consider a dream project.

But more specifically, I’d say Star Wars. Kind of like Dark Forces meets newer graphics (more on the realism side than cartoony) with a bit of darker/more serious twist but kept simple game play side like the original.

I would like to make a twisted metal style game. I am working on one now for fun.

So you’d spend vast amounts of money to… completely ignore the actual lord of the rings?

Read 'em - surprisingly enough they are actually good!

:stuck_out_tongue:

I’d make the sequel to freelancer - you’d only need a *(^ load of cash though - I don’t think MS is going to exactly give away the rights :frowning:

The setting of Crimson Skies translated into the gameplay of Elite. Failing that, Uprising 3.

Dont worry, i have read all the books, several times each. Best books i have read, but books dont come 5% near epicness of movie. Also basing game on movie is much better becouse you have visual style for reference.

And then there are lots of people who think Lord of Ring is the most boring kind of movie ever… But I have to admit that the scenery is quite good.

If pictures are worth a thousand words, then movies are worth 29,980 words a second (unless you’re in a theater. Then it’s 24,000 words a second), thus very epic compared to books.

And one rich imagination is worth a thousand movies

A proper Diablo 3 and not a carebear version like the one Blizzard is making.

But I’m already making that so apparently I’m working on my dream project. And money isn’t a problem because this isn’t my job so I can spend 30 years making it. Wuhu, I’m living the life. :stuck_out_tongue:

What don’t you like? The graphics? Lack of skill trees/control over attribute progression? Real money auction house?

I can speak for him probably that he doesnt like game dirrection, which is far too much grinding. Graphic is great, skills are nice, i just dont like that overall gameplay is somehow mixed with grinding from wow.

What do you mean? How is it any different, grind-wise, than D2?

There’s tons I don’t like. legend411 is more on the money than janpec, but I won’t get into it. People just get all whiny. Surely because of my superior intellect. :stuck_out_tongue:

The bottom line is I think it will be a great game that I will enjoy playing very much, but I would have done a lot of things differently if I were to design my dream game. These things would surely make the game less enjoyable for the average gamer, but I hate that guy. He ruins all my games.

Haha, I was actually asking because I agree with you. I’m more excited for Torchlight 2 and Dark Souls, myself. I’m sure I will inevitably play D3 anyway though, because of friends.

Deus Ex 4.

I would like to write a game (or even a movie!) based on the following trilogy (plus the 4th book Dragons of Summer’s Flame) by Tracy Hickman and Margret Weis: Dragons of Autumn Twilight, Dragons of Winter Night, and Dragons of Spring Dawning

It would be fun to see those characters and that setting come to life how I always envisioned them in my head.

Save the Silly Earthlings, but it would be more of a full simulation of climate change and the peak oil crisis!

Think 3D cartoon graphics, with Risk and Diplomacy type strategy!

Do you go to war for the last of the Earth’s resources or build a spaceship and get off before everyone else does, or get together and save the world but that would be boring!

A dark tale of twisted longing and self loathing tinged with tragedy.
