I want to know what people want to see in an fps. some games now have FPS and RPG type features in one game. i think thats cool but there isnt to many new concepts or new features. where are the new fps games.
Gears of War 1,2,and now 3
Fallout1,2,3,New Vagas
Bio-Shock1,and 2
COD1,2,3,4,5,6(SERIOUSLY!)
Those games are very cool but WHERES THE NEW SHIT.
I cant wait to see what BULLETSTORM brings to the game industery.I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SEE IN AN FPS.
Actually BulletStorm is kinda cool from what I seen, what I really liked from that was the kick and if you made an fps based more around an action melee fps game I think that would be really cool! Now im not talking about slow paced oblivion style but fast paced more like what you get in most tps action games but put it in a first person game!
I like it when everything is touchable, throwable and destroyable in a FPS. Also, interacting with other characters and an interesting story is what usualy holds me to the last level.
What I usually miss in some multiplayer FPS games is trigger bombs. It’s just nice to have it in Capture the flag maps.
Well firstly, Fallout 3 was different than 12, so you can’t really say it;s been going. I mean it basically is a Fallout, but you have to admit it is much different.
There are a lot of fps that look interesting and “fresh” at this years E3. Look around for them. I know for a fact PS3 has a few.
And, Gears of War is 3rd person only so…are you just saying any game with a gun is an fps now?
I see what your saying and that is true but even though GOW is a third person shooter i dont think Epic Games should just focus on one title. its my opion and I think its time to move on. that is why i cant wait for BULLETSTORM!
Set in post apocalyptic Moscow where humanity has been forced underground into the metro system. The game has a phenomenal storyline and is extremely immersive, along with being flat-out beautifully done. Best FPS I’ve played in a long time. Make sure you play it with all the lights off early in the morning.
This is why there is stagnation within the industry. I like the message in this video, however disagree with the licensing of if big studios create indie branches for us to submit games to. I think we aught to retain rights to our own material instead of sell our souls to the big name companies who I fear would muscle indies out of their work and generate more clones.
Anyway, back on topic I am working on and FPS right now and I am trying to compile a list of features for my game. Some of things I can post freely are my non-top secret plans. I would say what I want to see in an FPS is more exploration make it more First Person Adventure like Metroid Prime. FPS games are heavy on shooting, but in real life guns are tools that are used only when needed. Yes its fun to blow everything to kingdom come, but what about the world you are in? I want to explore it! Also, what happened to the power ups and an actual health bar? I am tired of this regenerating health stuff. Sit for a while and bleed out in real life, but in a game that tries to mimic real life you heal by sitting around bleeding? I know it’s to make it more playable and fun, but its just counter intuitive.
What do I want in an FPS? Pretty much the same as my movies.
guns
explosions
hot chicks
Actually, some inventory management is good. I actually liked what they were doing with Hellgate: London. The art direction was terrible, but at least they saved my money by outsourcing it all; the levels were too blocky; and the enemies weren’t very good. Still, I liked the general concept.
That video was an interesting listen, really hammered home on some of the points. I think what really drives home the lack of innovation is how derivative so many works are becoming. Most AAA shooters are just trying to be better than the current popular kid (Modern Warfare/Halo) rather than trying to be great games in their own respect.
Completely agree with the excess of shooting in first person games. As cliche as it sounds, I found Metroid Prime really immersive because so much time was spent just bouncing around the world, taking in the sights.
Back on topic, I’d really like to play an FPS where I’m not assuming the identity of some soldier, and where the dialogue consists of more than military/sci fi military jargon. Wouldn’t mind playing a less militant style shooter.
