I’ve been a way for a bit. Not really taking notice of what the new innovations are. Have I missed much in the way of exciting new developments in the last 6 months?
Is there a new trendy programming a language that I’ve missed?
Or a new trend in websites? Is everything now Web 5.0?
Is everyone now doing 16-core parallel programming?
Or is everything pretty much the same as it was 6 months ago.
The interesting stuff is in third-party tools to improve your workflow, whether it’s programming, texturing or modelling. I’m starting to really dig into the Allegorithmic tools now, which are great for art-deficient programmers too
About time! If they got it down to under £300 I’d consider buying it. Even though my MacBook Air couldn’t handle it.
On the other hand I’ve been messing about with cloud desktops recently where you can run Windows on a Mac via the cloud. An interesting way to play Windows Steam games on a Mac. Or even compile Windows Unity games on a Mac.
Its interesting Java is losing ground. In a way this could be Unity’s fault. Since to make a cross platform app its easier to use Unity and C# than to use Java.
And I suppose to make a simple UI application you could use Javascript and HTML.
The problem is when you want to make a UI application which is (predictably) fast and cross-platform. Which language would you use then?
Unity is nearly there I think. But Java/Javascript is much faster to make something simple like a scrolling text box or a drop down box.
@yoonitee It seems like you replied to my post that I just deleted. After I posted it, I realized you said ‘in last 6 months’ so I assumed you’d already know most of the things I said which makes my post to be redundant.
See above! lolz. UnityScript would’ve been good if it was more like ActionScript 2.0 for Flash. Yeah. Flash is pretty much dead now isn’t it. Although the BBC still uses it for videos.
Does anyone still have personal webpages? That’s a bit last decade isn’t it. When only the geeks used the internet. And then along came social media.
