What are some High-End games that have been made in Unity? I mean like AAA quality of really popular…
Most of the games i see are cheap indie games that never go anywhere… Show me what makes Unity stay up with UDK and CryENGINE.
blablabla
Hahaha. Pretty much my thoughts.
Seriously, this is talked to death and comes mostly from people who don’t have any confidence in their own abilities. People who think that it matters for them what engine was used for triple A games.
But it doesn’t, because you won’t create the next Battlefield, Mass effect, Gears of War or whatever.
A poor tradesman blames his tools, you know.
Unity does not currently have a graphical front end that surpasses cryengine or UDK. But it is getting there.
Unity does however have a game development back-end, editor tool and scripting enviroment that far surpasses cryengine and UDK.
But really ‘blablahblah’ is the most appropriate response to you.
What I just told you, you should know, if you had done some research yourself, searched around and read some things yourself, downloaded the engines and played with them a little bit. Don’t make threads declaring that other people need to do your homework for you.
this is a topic that not like much in this forum, personally I prefer know the maximum that can make a tool (i not like the last unity technical demo, the real meter is the game market).
This is pretty ironic since it actually says “bla bla” on the icon for gossip.
Google for CryEngine Pricing… people are reporting it costs $1.2 million… and you need to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
- CryEngine: $1,200,000
- Unreal wants 25% of your earnings…
- UnityPro costs $1,500
-Carmine
dont forget Shiva3D
Don’t forget… game maker.
with gamemaker only can make 2d games but is a nice and cheap tool too.
It’s supported 3D for over two years.
great, the game development world have many alternatives and be limited to only one is not good, and for answer the original question personally i dont has see never a unity game with AAA graphic quality (many good unity games but not with awesome graphic quality) for the moment this quality is reserved to game engines as UDK, CryEngine, EGO and few others (the most accequible for the indie developer is UDK free or with a $99 commercial license), possibly better graphics will be appear in games make with unity 4 or unity 5 (i think that directx 9 or 11 dont matter for a good quality but obviusly with directx 11 you have more tools)
Wow, you guys never tire of this exact same conversation do you? I thought nipoco had pretty succinctly wrapped it up this time already.
Closing.
