Whats up with Monodevlop?

Its slow, buggy and annoyingly messes with my code formatting. What is Unity’s justification for continuing to require this IDE in its current state? I would happily pay Unity money for a fixed version of Monodevlop. Also where can I find the source code for Unity’s version of Monodevelop. Thanks.

In that case, just spend the money on Visual Studio instead. It works with Unity and is way better than Monodevlop. I doubt that you could pay them enough money so they could turn Monodevlop into an IDE that compares to VS.

I’m on a Mac, also I’ve read that you cannot debug using other IDE’s.

Your fault :stuck_out_tongue:

Also: UnityVS

Well, you don’t have to use monodevelop. A lot of people use visual studio with an extension, unityVS I think.

I don’t think I’ve heard much from anyone using anything else. I don’t know if anyone uses Xcode, emacs or vi. Haven’t heard of any at least.

VS is $300 and UnityVS is $99. Surely it would be cheaper to crowd fund Monodevelop being fixed, then at least its cross platform.
