This thread is more about the “When”. Will Unity address those problems at all? I still have 2019.4 installed and still use it to be able to download the assets and after that I install those manually. It was even last week with 2020.1.9f1 that Unity installed an old version of an Asset that I had in the Assets folder (name with a different timestamp, I rename them manually before they get overwritten). Even yesterday it turned out to be a good choice to keep a backup - which actually would be the job of the package manager, but he doesn’t - since an update to an asset broke and I wouldn’t have had any way to revert to an old working version otherwise.
And it’s sooooo annoying that Unity first scans my 100s of Assets on the Hard Disk before it even tries to list the ones I purchased. That’s happening for absolutely no reason when it only lists a few of them anyway. And it’s only interesting what’s downloaded when I click it. Or when I see them in the resulting list which is limited by 25 initially anyway.
Switching the category still doesn’t consider the search text I entered, I have to re-enter it.
And when I install a large asset it says “Saving unsaved assets” for minutes for I have no idea why since saving is fast. I guess the message box is just wrong and it’s extracting the assets. No idea.
The package manager is such a pain to use.
Oh, and the latest problem is that I can’t even find Entities anymore. Nowhere.
No need to reply here about the bugs, main question is “When”. I don’t want to download yet another sub-version of Unity only to see that nothing got fixed.
