When running apps on Google PlayGames, Japanese cannot be input when entering text

We have an app we are developing that requires Japanese text input, but when we run it on the Google PlayGames emulator, we cannot switch the keyboard input format from US keyboard and cannot input Japanese. I would like to know if there is a way to solve this problem.

Hello! Can you specify what exactly you mean by “Google PlayGames emulator”? I’m not familiar with an emulator specific for Google Play Games, only the Android Emulator and Bluestacks. Do you maybe mean the Google Play Games Beta?

In any case, the text input with the on-screen keyboard is not something Unity has control over as far as I know. If you open a different app in there, not your own, are you able to use the Japanese input?

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, “Google Play Games emulator” means “Google Play Games Beta”. I apologize for the incorrect description.
As for whether other apps can input Japanese, there are some that can and some that can’t, and at least one app that was created with the same Unity cannot input Japanese.
I contacted Google about this issue, but they replied that it might be a problem on the Unity side, so I asked this question in this forum.

Unfortunately here in the Accessibility team we don’t know the answer. I tried looking around a bit but couldn’t find anything promising. I think maybe the Android Unity Forum users may have an idea, so I can move this one there or you can post there separately if you prefer!

I see, I’ll try asking the question on that forum as well.
Thank you for your cooperation.
