I have to say I have purchased a few products and they did not work in Unity or had some other flaw, for example models that were not well optomized, etc. I feel there should be an easier way to get your money back or some other arrangement so you don’t waste money getting something that will not work.
Yes most times when you contact the vendor they help you out, but sometimes not. Perhaps a coin type system instead of cash, so we can get our coins back by requesting a direct refund and signing a form of destruction, something along that line. I am not exactly sure the best way to approach this is, but its disappointing things on the asset store should be ready to work in Unity and more often then not they do not, I know several Dev’s that will not buy because of this issue.
We’re sorry to hear about that! While we do our best to keep quality control, there are different standards and expectations between different buyers and sellers, and because we know that, we are generally pretty understanding about it.
We expect our sellers to provide good support and periodic fixes and updates. When it comes to our attention that a seller is not, we take action to assure that things are fixed (or, if not, removed from the store). If you’ve purchased something you’re unhappy with, which you could not preview in the store, we can generally issue a refund if the purchase was made no more than two weeks before you contact us.
Software refunds are always tricky…
How can you make sure that someone who got the refund won’t keep the downloaded package nonetheless? A lot seller of the asset store have already to fight against sites like cgp…a. I guess an easy refund would make it even worse.
I would say it is up to the asset store people to assure that all packages meeting the quality standards. If something does not work as advertised, or doesn’t work well in general it should get rejected.
Hello Caitlyn,
In case you have a Turbosquid account, you should have a look how they accept models. There are a few guidelines, like realistic scaling, at least 3 screenshots, and a wireframe screenshot too. I know it is just for models, but still something to think about.
