When will the project boot up be updated?

The project boot up takes ages, even if I have a super fast PC. In the mean time I’m loosing interest on my projects while it is booting up for hours. This is the main issue with Unity after you have done an editor update.

And since Unity is in constant development, its quite annoying that after every a week or so I have to reload EVERYTHING in my project. I have 16gb of ram a i7 6700 cpu and a GTX 980. So whats the problem? I’ve got the horse power and it still boots up like my crappy i3 laptop. And at the end it crashes and makes me want to hate my life.

I hope I speak for all of the hard working dev’s who run into the same issue as I am.
We have the GFX glory, its time for the architecture optimization for bad-ass development success.
Purely my personal oppinnion. Does anyone agree? …uh my project just got loaded yeah!

While it’s still in the planning phase there are plans to address this. AFAIK they depend on some infrastructure being cleaned up, but the end goal is to allow you to open a project immediately and have assets imported on-demand in the background. Again, we don’t have an official assessment of when development starts, but we do know it’s a pain and we plan to fix it.
