Where can I find a collection of game artistic/visual style samples?

Hi all -

As my game nears release, I’m considering taking another look at graphics (I deliberately kept that part until the end).

It would be super-useful if anyone could recommend a place where I could look through examples of various visual styles for games. For example, Candy Crash Saga is notable for its use of cut-out-like elements; the Banner Saga uses a unique hand-drawn style; Borderlands uses cell-shading; WoW uses stylized textures, and then there are other games that are minimalist, monochrome, etc.

To be sure, I could surf hundreds of Behance, Instagram and other creative profiles, but if anyone knows of a place that consolidates these, it would be so much better. The idea is that I could then point my artist to an example I like so we have a common vision to work towards.

Thanks in advance,
George

With respect, good artistic design is something that evolves over time as you iterate on it.

That said, I miss CGhub to browse for reference, but I guess Artstation is the spiritual successor to it. You can also browse through CGSociety.

Pinterest should have some themed collections that are like that. As a website I think it’s pretty bad though. Requires registration too iirc.

Maybe start with something like Pixel Pioneers “A Brief History of Graphics” and refine your search from there?

steam, google, apple store. To be honest a person needs to see the game in motion rather than just still images. Some of the best looking games are not great simply because of the style of the graphics, it is also because of the motion graphics and overall aesthetic - which isn’t just visual.
Gameplay trailers will give you the best examples of this, not still images.

I know pintrest is big in terms of themed image collections in the LARP world. I assume it could be used in the same way for video game graphics. I’ve never looked to see if anyone is doing it.

Not sure If I should mention but there is https://blenderartists.org/forum/ too.
