Hey, I am using Unity and Blender to make my game, I am fairly good with Blender but have no experience with Unity.
My game takes place in a hotel but I dont know if I should build my opening and closing doors and windows in Unity or in Blender.
Can anyone give me some advice?
If build them in Blender and import them into Unity, will I be able to animate and script them in Unity?
Those methods all work. Here are some ways of doing it :
1)You build your models in Blender and animate them in Blender; Then import the model(s) and the animation(s) in Unity and and then just play the animations when needed.
You build your models in Blender and then import your model(s) in Unity. Then, just animate them programatically inside Unity using a script.
You build your models in Blender and import your model(s) in Unity. Then create the animation in Unity using the animation window/ editor (This will work with the legacy system but I’m not sure that this will work with the new mecanim system at the moment (you would need to try it).)
Thank you Alf203 I might just make them in Blender then.
I havnt even touched Unity yet as I am waiting for a few tutorial books I have bought to arrive, in the mean time I am making all the models I’ll need.
Thanks again man.
If you’re talking about modelling its usually done outside Unity (in Blender, Max, Maya, etc…). There are however some tools available in the Asset store that let you model inside Unity but its more limited than in Blender. One of the tools is Probuilder)
