I’m looking to make a very basic LAN server and many of the tutorials I am finding are for things are so much more complex it is hard to find something relevant. I need a server that is locally hosted and can have devices connected to the server. On the players side all I really need is to be able to send numerical information to the server, I don’t even need to send anything back to the sender. I have been looking at lots of tutorials and most of them are for online servers and the player “existing” in the game world, which I don’t need, I only need to send numerical data, and maybe some strings. If anybody could point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it, thanks!
If it’s not a low latency realtime app that’s tracking player locations in a world, I highly suggest just using http. The main reason people don’t use http for more things isn’t really performance or that it can’t handle the volume, it’s that it’s not space efficient, it has too much built in overhead. But on a lan that won’t matter.
