Where to start

I downloaded Unity, now what? I’ll still need something to create my 3D models and something to do my animations and something to code in and something to make my sounds (right?). I want to make a game so bad, but I am such a n00b. Can someone give me a simple overview of the process or throw me on their team so I can observe? I catch on quick, but right now it just feels like walking around in the dark, not knowing where to begin. Thanks.

Code editor is included with Unity.

For 3D modeling try Blender.
Making 3D models can take a long time and practice, here are tutorials and introductions to how to use blender.

Animation can also be done with Blender.

There are some tutorials on Unity on this page.

3dBuzz. Great tutorials for programming in Unity, as well as 3d modeling.

Walker Boys( google walker boys unity 3D), I wouldn’t worry so much about learning 3D modeling right now - it can get really daunting if you try to learn programming and modeling at the same time - Walker boys takes care of this by supplying you with all the art assets you need to get started .

awesome. Thanks to all of you for your replies!

www.unity3dstudent.com for the best short scripting video tutorials.

PS : You can’t do it all (Well you can but its better to specialise in something)

I am a programmer/developer by heart and spent months on Maya learning to model. Eventually I realised my time would be better spent coding or collaborating with a modeller for models and let the specialists do what they do best!

check my sig
