Looking at

I want to know why it was never finished . Looks like it would make JS coding far less painful
Isn’t ninjacamp unity’s experimental thing majiggie? Where they give employees free time to work? If so that feature might have been cut.
it looks like sublime text 2 but built in however I like. Where do I buy this? I want to throw money at it.
Yeah, I’d love a nicer cross platform code editor. It doesn’t need all of the features of MonoDevelop, just the 20% which are used 99% of the time, and with 90% fewer bugs, usable on Windows and Mac, would be great.
Its rather disappointing to see such an awesome idea basically abandoned …
Monodev always feels very awkward . I’m sure to it now , but …
I’m working on an integrated Unity IDE. You can see some info about it here:
http://forum.unity3d.com/threads/155788-UnIDE-A-Code-Editor-Integrated-Into-Unity
I know about that , but without the Unity source , ( which UT can access of course, you can only do so much
Why do you say that? I am able to do everything someone would expect from an IDE. Some of the hotkeys like Ctrl+S and Ctrl+Z take a bit of hacking to make work but they can be used.
Hmm, but since your developing it , it wont have the same interrogation as if Unity developed it in house . Like I would like a full on monodev alternative built into Unity
What do you mean by interrogation? Integration? I do agree that a native code editor in Unity would be better than a plugin, but a plugin is better than nothing and would be quite useful.
I haven’t used it in years, but is Eclipse any good these days? It strikes me that it’s also a cross-platform, fully featured IDE and it might be a good alternative to MonoDevelop for those of us who’d like one.
Eclipse? I’m using it with Java(as a school course), and it seems pretty good to me. Idk how well it would work with Unity, I haven’t researched too well into its capabilities there, as I use C# and Visual Studio. But I don’t have any problems with it, and it is nice and easy to work with. Definitely would recommend at least giving it a shot as an alternative to MonoDevelop.
I think with 4.0 you can export Unity android to eclipse .
Yeah, but I think that’s equivalent to Unity iOS exporting to Xcode projects for deployment on an iOS device, ie: it’s not for scripting.
You can change the “External script editor” in your preferences. Just change it to the editor of your choice.
Thats what I’m going for. What commonly used features of monodevelop and visual studio do you suggest that aren’t on the feature list?
I created a vote request for this on UnityFeedback, but it got shot down…
