I am considering purchasing an iMac and running unity on it. I’ll be mainly using it to prototype game levels and assets with grey boxes and eventually importing low to medium polygon models with textures for the final game in unity. I’ll also be animating small characters, nothing too complicated.
Can I get away with the iMac spec on the left (1.6GHz) with dual core or do I really need the 2.8 GHz with quad core.
It’s really hard to say - if you’re only animating and greyboxing levels, then the 1.6ghz one should work. But is that all you will be doing with it one year from now? The second one is likely twice as fast at everything you’ll be doing. I’d suggest to get that one.
For longevity, you might consider going up to the 27", with the discrete M380.
That’s true, I’ll probably be putting the game together in a years time and need a discrete M380. If I bought a PC then I’d have to eventually have to pay out £400 for a Mac mini so I can create the app for iOS.
can you create VR on a Mac via unity, I’m talking headsets with android phones not the HTC systems.
