Which is easier to create in Unity, a shooter vs a fighter

Hey ive recenlty gotten back into Unity and I plan to create a video game with a small team of 3 or more people. Most of these people that are in my team are beginners in 3d and unity. Me on the other hand, ive tried it out before, used the first book by william goldstone, unity game development essentials. I loved the book but hated the innacuracy at certain points. Also Ive been using 3d software for almost a year now, such as Maya, my favourite, and i experimented with 3ds max as well as motionbuilder, didn’t get to softimage though. My main question is, which is easier: to make a 3d fighter in unity with 4 playable characters and an online mode via photon server or a 4 player shooter using unity and photon server. Ive read a bit of what n0mad had to say regarding Kinetic Damage and since my team will be comprised of noobs (I am one as well to Game Design) which is more feasible to create. I told the team so far that my projected time to complete the game would be a year at most, seven months at least, but this will be subject to change because I have to do a couple of things. First I have to show them how to use the 3d programs, then show them how unity works and animation via mecanim. Then go through scripting. I want to hear what you guys have to say, because alot of you out there have either made games or have a plethora of information about Unity and game design.

Fighters needs a giant library of animations and many different characters…
Shooters needs many different levels and tons of level props…

Both are hard work to do. Make Tetris.

First; holy wall of text. That Enter button on your keyboard isn’t just there for show.

As to your question (I’m just responding the post title, cuz the text wall gave me a headache), I would think an FPS would be easier. However, that’s based on my personal style. Animation blending and hit locations may just not be my thing.

Also, there are plenty of tutorials on creating FPS games with Photon and SmartFox, so you’ll have a headstart. To my knowledge, online fighting games are far less common.

Shooters have so many templates out there to use and scripts too. Might be easier to make those instead.
