Which is faster? VertexLit Blended or Soft Edge Unlit ?

Hi I have little or no knowledge about shaders. I wonder which is faster for mobile games…

a) Transparent → Cut-Out → Soft Edge Unlit
b) Mobile → Particles → VertexLit Blended

This will be used on a plant (bush). Thanks.

Mobile stuff is the fastest that ships with unity. If you want faster (easily possible) you need to wait for Echologin’s shader bundle which is arriving on an asset store near you. Echologin also helped me optimise the shaders featured in The Other Brothers so yes, I am vouching for his speed :slight_smile: He ensures they all run 60fps on iPad1 (which is the worst common device for fill performance).

Hopefully it should be soon, he is annoying because I nag him to just release it but no, he’d rather spend months polishing it. There’s a shader for almost everything in it from dissolves, foliage and more and he will be taking requests from purchasers so I think it’s probably the best thing - just finish your game and grab the shader pack.

If it sounds like an advertisement for a friend, it’s not. I think those shaders are going to be a game changer for all mobile users or desktop or flash users that need speed.
