I have recently published a couple of sound effect packs for monster, human screams and some misc sounds. They were accepted quite well in the asset store.
i was wondering which kind of sound effects game developers need the most for their games… if it is something that i could record with my zoom h4n or obtain with sound processing I will for sure do it as one of my next projects!
I specifically need a range of Elephant noises - but thats just me; I can’t imagine thats a common request.
But animal noises in general are under represented in the Asset Store. The Asset Store has an animals section, but only contains cats, cows and dogs. I would have thought all kinds of birds, crows, rats/mice, wolf howls, bees/wasp buzzing, pigs, sheep, goat, horse, snakes, crickets, frogs etc would be very useful noises for many games. The more exotic animals, lions/tigers/monkeys/elephants will be useful to some.
thanks for the suggestion… but some of them could be really difficult to record from real sources!
maybe for such specific sounds you can rely on different marketplaces.
what about “ambient” or background noises (field recordingds) from places such as woods, rivers, sea, courtyards…
btw… if i find a way to reproduce an elephant noise i will contact you!
Well i havea channle called animal planet, works wonders:P Animal sounds are easy to find tbh, cant see this to be a problem, internet is RIDDLED with sources for that in some way.
for my project i need ambients like “magic” forests with animal life going off, birds etc. and some creepy forest nightlife and so on, i can only find “normal” forest ambients.
I need User Interface sounds. Swooshes, binks, plinks, button pushes, that sort of thing. Not the 8-bit crap you can generate with Bfxr - the kind of sounds you would find in a Game of the Week on iOS. Create a bundle of quality UI sounds + sell it cheap => Asset store win!
I can think of a few I think many of us could use.
*Walking and running sounds on different surfaces.
*Different kind of doors/gate/chest open close sound.
*Generic hit/slam/impact/bang sounds of all sorts (wooden, metalic, etc) - Also generic sounds that can be used for anything, like holster weapons, or adding elements into an inventory.
*Sounds for ambient (wind, wind on leaves, water flowing, sound of the sea, thunder, rain, birds, insects, etc etc)
