White color Screen Testing Identifies Screen Glitches in Unity Steam Games

Hi guys,

Pure white color background testing has been incredibly helpful in diagnosing screen related issues. I recently used pure white background screen to identify glitches that occur when I open some games in my Steam library. The screen becomes glitchy, but only in the game tab. If I switch to the Windows Task Preview and then back to the game, the screen appears normal again.

Interestingly, all the games with this issue were made in Unity, and so far, I have not found a non Unity game with the same behavior.

Here’s my system setup:
Operating System: Windows 10
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GTX 1650
Driver Version: 536.23

What I have tried so far:
Verifying the game files on Steam.
Updating my GPU drivers to the latest version.
Running the games in windowed mode and adjusting graphics settings.

Has anyone else encountered this issue with Unity-based games or have suggestions on how to resolve it? Any help?

That sounds unusual. Try a force reinstall (wipe previous settings) of the graphics driver and use the “Studio” driver for the most stable experience.

If that doesn’t fix it, and the issue isn’t observable on other systems, it may be a hardware or OS issue. You may have to do more tests to narrow down the issue, eg swap out the GPU and see if another one works well on your system while the other system now has the same issue. Then you know the GPU is at fault.

Thanks for the advice! I will try a clean reinstall with the Studio driver and test again. If the issue persists, I will consider swapping the GPU to narrow down the cause. Using a pure white screen still makes the glitches very noticeable, so it’s been a useful tool in troubleshooting.
