White Harvest. A Mobile Game

Hello fellow unity developers.

I’ve been working on a mobile targeted, farming-RPG in the style of Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing. I figured before I get too deep into this I’d see what people what like to see in a game like this.

Here’s what we have so far.

A Farming System

Inventory System,

Dialogue System,
Item Shop,

A day to night cycle

and of course a clock, D-Pad for movement, and a basic interaction button.

Like I mentioned before, This is a WIP so I’d like to get the opinions of those who were fans of game like Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing ect.

So What would you like to see in a game like this? Let me know and I’m sure we can make a great game.

Thank you for your answers in advance.

As there is a lot of idle/farming games, your game need something new to it.
Something really cool would be some kind of hybridizing feature, along with seasons feature.
You plant tomatoes that taste good and sells good, but produces only few, and are hard to plant during winter, but then you have another variety that produces even fewer but resist to winter, you cross them, until you acheive to create a variety that produces a lot of good tomatoes during winter. Hybridizing might be done manually, or just by one plant close to another one with a different variety.

Thank you for the reply, I remember you could do that with flowers in Animal Crossing. I’ve been working on a system similar to what you mentioned. At the moment each item has a grade (F, D, E, C, B, A, S) F being the worst and S being the best. The grade demands the worth, how much hunger it restores, it’s durability, the yield of the crop, ect,

And as you said I wanted to have a feature that made my game distinct, I was thinking of adding a None-turnbased Battle system, hack and slash style, Thoughts?

I don’t know, i’m not sure of what would look like a game starting from a farming game with a hack and slash battle system added to it, an hack and slash with a farming system added to it is a bit more obvious. But i guess you can create a farming game designed to be easily modified to be integrated into another game later too.

[Edit : i didn’t see the UI of your game, with the hp bar and everything, is your project already designed to be an hack and slash? ]

Yeah I left the door open to it, I remember playing harvest moon AWL or animal crossing back in the day it It would get a little tedious after a while. My Idea was to have monsters appear in caves while mining, getting wood in a dark Forrest or monsters would block you way between towns. these monsters would drop things like seeds or new food recipes. I just want something that would give players a break from the slower gameplay, planting, harvesting, fishing talking to people.

But the point of this forum is to get input from the people who’d actually play this so, if anyone got a better idea I’m all ears.

Heh, I’m working on a game code named Green Harvest, nothing to do with farming though. I’d play a harvest moon clone if it was interesting enough, I’ve definitely played a lot of stardew.

Thanks for the feed back, the clone parts a bit of a stab to the heart but, at the very least if we combine our games we can make Neon Harvest  Have fun Developing your game!

Clone in the loosest sense, whereas I consider Stardew Valley a Harvest Moon clone and I love it, don’t worry about it, it’s not about what game inspired you, it’s about how fun you make your game =P

Let there be light!!!
