I must say I’m quite frustrated with the support with Unity. I’ve emailed multiple times, and called without reply, and quite frankly, I’m debating if I actually want to pursue a business relationship with Unity.
I have a simple question to ask, and turning to the community to answer it. I’ve heard a lot of talk about this “partnership” between Unity and Nintendo to develop for the Wii U. I know that you need to be an authorized developer to get the license, but I can’t find anything anywhere about becoming one. I have a team of 6 who are eager to be able to work on the Wii U, what do we need to do? We currently work with Microsoft XNA, and are intrigued with the GUI and compatibility that Unity supposedly has.
Unity is very secretive about the Console Licenses and they are rumored to sell for about 10k on a per game basis. Unity wont even talk to you about the licenses unless you are registered with the individual console manufacturer as a developer. This is not cheap stuff we are talking about, around a 100k is needed to get you everything needed to develop for one console for one game. Thanks for your posts. The costs aren’t an issue for me, and its unfortunate that being a new studio they won’t respond when it can make them a lot of money. Thank you for the posts, and I will look into it further.
