Why are 4.6 or 4.7 scored assets in Unity Asset store not appear in 5 star asset searches?

These assets appear as 4 star assets in 4 stars assets searches only.

Given the 4.6 is closer to 5 than to 4 stars for example why is a 4.6 or 4.75 ranked as 4 stars, and not as 5 stars ?

Is this a bug in the new store ?

Thanks

Because they don’t have 5 stars?

They actually do in a 5 star scale, for example 4.8 assets do get categorized in 5 star searches

Anything above 4.5 should be included in a 5 star assets search.

No.
The filter is rounding down, but only below x.8. And it makes resealable sense.
For example, if I look for assets with 4 stars, I don’t want assets with 3.5 stars.
But results may return 3.8 and 3.9 stars, as you have noticed.
5 stars are only exceptional assets and are extremely rare. Unless having only few reviews with 5 stars.
Realistically saying, rarely there are well known 5 star assets even are very good and polished, as there always will be someone who is unhappy customers. Or may give 4.5 stars instead of 5. That will be enough to fall of 5 star podium. So +x.8 range filter makes sense.

It is not so much about what make sense in an opinion way, but what make sense in a hard factual math way.

4.6 or even 4.51 is closer to 5 than to 4 stars, a 4.75 asset is near 5 and not near 4, so this is factually wrong in my mind to try to say a 4.7 asset is in the 4 stars category, it just makes no sense.

When categorize in a 5 star system should adhere to the realities of that system in a mathematical way, otherwise will make no sense in a distance kind of way

Of course if we go by random opinion, then any rule may be applied, e.g. why 4.99 assets be categorized as 5 star ? They are clearly not 5 stars for example. If we dont follow any distance rule then would be just random choices, like it is now.

I understand the store want to favor some publishers over others clearly for whatever reason, and choose to use a random categorization to make this possible, but this does not seem fair. That is why should avoid go by random assignments and use mathematics instead.

5 minus 4.6 is 0.4

4.6 minus 4 is 0.6

So 4.6 is more near to 5 than to 4, anything else is a biased opinion and nothing else.

Also now all assets with just 3 five star reviews will appear hundred of pages above assets with 4.75 score even if have 1000 reviews.

Which also make zero sense when i try to see which are the worthiest assets. For sure a 4.75 asset with 1000 reviews cant be that bad or hundred times less important than a 4.8 asset with only 3 five star reviews, as Unity store try to suggest.

And for sure is also nowhere near to 4 stars, as is a whole 0.7 above that score.

I will as you honest question, did you you ever make any online shopping (not Unity Asset Store) driven by users reviews?

Because you will find out immediately, none of your proposal would work, nor is implemented anywhere.

You need apply economical and statistical resoning, not just pure math.

Amazon allows only sorting by none, or +4 stars.
Ebay seems doesn’t even allow to sort by reviews.

But on both the stars indicator is in resolution of halve. Where value of x.8 is rounded up to next integer. And below is rounded to x.5.

And many other online shops following similar distributions.

Steam Store games has own scoring distribution.

Unreal has similar sorting system as Unity.
Unreal

Unity

Also Unity Asset Store (as many other) has additional sorting filters.

Seems you are upset about the asset which has been reviewed far less than anticipated.
Just talk to the customer and ask what you can do to improve their review.

Well, not sure how it is in other stores, will check it out.

My problem is not a new one star or two stars review, is many old ones without an actual review text or reason

For example, there is actually only 2 text written reviews in whole of 12 + 3 + 5 reviews in 1-2 and 3 stars, those are all very old like 8 years back

Unreal makes more sense, as it says 5 stars and includes only 5 star assets, that is another approach as is exact doing what it says

Unity does not do the same, it implies that our assets are all 4 stars, there is not a 4 stars and up notation

As can see below none of my assets are below 4.6, yet not appear in a 5 star search and Unity make them as just 4 star ones, which is extremely far from the truth.

Also my 200+ reviews 4.7 asset is categorized now hundred of pages behind any new assets with just 3 five star reviews and appears as a mere 4 star one.

After 10 years in Unity Store i never expected they would do such a massive downgrade of our assets, this can lead to eventually leaving the store as now our 4.7 assets with 200+ reviews appear as worthless and are completely gone from any 5 star asset searches or are categorized hundred of pages back in a general ratings based search, no matter the number of reviews.
