Why are my objects colors washed out at a certain distance?

I have had trouble finding why it looks like this. Spent several hours yesterday trying to find what controls it without luck. There are very visible borders where the colors gradually become washed out. And transparent textures get some white lit to them. This has to do with distance from the camera and I guess to give better performance. But I don’t know how to change it to fit my needs or any info on what it is called

Try disabling mip-maps on your textures.
