Why do the profiler and the stats window disagree about the draw call count?

The attached screenshot says it all, really…

The profiler window’s GPU tab shows 28 draw calls (in this snapshot), while the stats window shows 20 draw calls with 11 saved by batching. These numbers don’t add up.

What gives?

You should consider that the stats window itself produces a draw call and gizmos do too.
If you like to have exact profiler stats you should debug a standalone version of you game.
