So I recently started making a small game, but I faced a storage problem. You see, I set the Unity installed location on my E drive and placed my project on my F drive. But for some reason whenever I start making terrains, Unity start taking so much space on my D drive (where my Windows is installed). It already took about 10Gb. What can I do with this problem?
Get a bigger drive. That’s about it really.
Probably from the light bake cache. You can move it to a different drive in the settings or turn off automatic light baking.
Stop worrying and love the cache.
You can adjust the sprite atlas cache, GI cache (this one’s 10GB by default) and cache server settings. But you probably won’t see much reduction if you’re making large landscapes with lighting and lots of detail. The editor needs a lot of meta-data to keep things running smoothly and quickly. Plus 10GB is nothing in 2017.
