Why does the monobehaviour name have the _mono_ prefix?

just curiosity. I have a theory, but I want to know what you think about it.

Because it uses the Mono (opensource project alternative of .Net) framework.

There was already a similar question: http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/8555/What-is-Mono-Is-it-a-compiler-A-language-Or-what.html

Is it really worth a new question on Unity Answers? I don’t think so!

um… well id say either because it is a software for single person use. Or because you do not technically need another program to use it
