Why doesn't an animated object cast shadow on terrain?

When I dragged an animated character and a cube into the hierarchy view.
Then, adjusted the cube’s position, so that it’s under the character.
Then, created directional light and had the option Shadows/Type changed to “Hard Shadows”.
The shadow was casted onto the cube correctly this way.

But, when I changed from a cube to a terrain, there’s no shadow at all.

Is there any more settings that I need to enabled ?

Shadows, and any other lights (other than directional) don’t work on terrains yet unfortunately.

Will Unity support this feature (Shadow on terrain) soon? :?
