Why doesn't Unity delete use recycle bin?

So…I know I should back up and what not…and I do…but I just lost an evening’s worth of work from an accidental delete. Sometimes you’re in the zone for a few hours and don’t git-commit for a bit too long. Why doesn’t Unity delete to the recycle bin? Is there any good reason for this?

UPDATE: It does seem to use the recycle bin…except last night. A whole folder of scripts was deleted, I definitely checked the bin, and nothing was there. Is this a bug?
